About

Shweta Verma (Mili) is a lens-based artist working in Goa. Her work begins with the photograph and extends into gardens and found objects, returning to a few questions: how land holds memory, how women are held by the images made of them, and how built matter comes to host life.

Trained as an engineer, she worked in technology before turning to documentary photography, which she has practised for over a decade and a half as Mili Mukherjee. In 2025 she founded A Million Forests, a studio designing biodiversity gardens across urban India. Her art grows out of that fieldwork: soil, species, seasons, and the slow evidence of what returns.

She has lived and worked in India and Europe.
